The study focuses on how the time dedicated to teaching at universitiesLatin American ities affects the scientific productivity of researchers. It analyzes factors such as gender, teaching levels, level of competence and number of students advised. Contrary to the initial hypothesis, the number of groups taught does not significantly influence research productivity. On the other hand, factors such as belonging to the National System of Researchers of Mexico (SNI) or having a research or administrative position in the institution do have an impact. These results can inform academic and research policies that improve scientific productivity in Latin American universities.
